lilacs {and Easter}

I wish I could also share the lovely aroma of these beautiful flowers! Every year we think our lilac bushes are done for good, and then each Spring we get beautiful blooms on what appears to be dead branches.

And it reminds me of Easter and why we celebrate this holiday. It's not the eggs. It's not the candy. It's not the new outfits. All those things are fun and good and are blessings! But WHY??

Because Jesus left His throne in Heaven and came here to Earth to serve us. To love us. To die for each and every single one of us. And three days later, to rise from that grave so we can have a personal, intimate, awesome relationship with HIM. And in turn, we love each other and spread it all over the world!

We're here to be revolutionary. So I have to ask myself, am I revolutionary? Do I live my life in light of the fact that Jesus died on the cross for ME? Do I glow for Him? When people see me, do they see Him?

"What does this have to do with lilacs?!" you're asking yourself. Life! Life in what appears to be dead, just like our poor little scrawny lilac bushes, they look as if they're capable of nothing better than possibly kindling a fire and yet they produce these beautiful blooms. Exactly what Jesus does with my poor little scrawny life, the Bible promises me He will use it to produce unlikely beautiful blooms.

Have you accepted His gift of life? He has HUGE EXCITING plans for you! All He asks is that you let Him in. So this Friday when you're off work for a holiday, remember that He died for you. And Sunday as you enjoy time with your family and friends and chocolate bunnies and jelly beans, remember that He lives and He's standing at the door of your heart knocking, all you have to do is let Him in! Jesus plus nothing.
