In Awe

Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting one of the pastors that partners with Forgotten Children, International. He lives in India and is the founder of The Home Of Champions, the home where our little Indian child that we sponsor lives.

Some things he said that blew my mind:

~Other than the orphan home that houses 45 children and another orphan home that houses around 20, there are family homes that care for 10 orphans each. By "family home" I mean a pastor, his wife, their biological children and 10 orphans. They are paid $100/mo to house and care for these fatherless children (the children also have sponsors who pay $25/mo to care for their school uniforms, tuition, medical, etc). And when I say "home"...I'm not talking about the mansions we live in here in America...and yes, if you are reading this, chances are you live in a mansion, even if you may think you do not. :)

~Pastor Sudakhar has a list of over 100 children who do not have sponsors and are waiting for the news that they have been sponsored. These children are currently waiting while living with relatives or on the streets...not being educated, may not be fed substantially or have medical care and may be "working" to earn money.

~Pastor Sudakhar is trying to make Home of Champions self-sufficient by starting their own poultry farm, rice paddy, having goats and water buffalo. He is $7000.00 away from attaining a lot of that goal. That doesn't sound like much to us, does it? Especially when you think about the generations of lives that it would change and affect.

~Just $85/mo plants a church in a village full of people who do not know that there is more to life than living out your "fate" due to something you believe you messed up in a previous life. A church that can bring hope to the hopeless and can show these precious people that Jesus loves them.

~Last Sunday, as people were worshiping God during their church service, the Hindu radicals barged in and told them they had to leave or be physically beaten. Pastors were arrested and charges brought against them because of what they believe and are teaching others.

~Pastor Sudakhar himself has been arrested, beaten, and jailed for believing in Jesus and not being afraid to tell others about it.

What now?
I'm not doing enough.
