Adult Time!!!

Last weekend, our munchkins went to Kamma & Papoo's and Jason and I went to our "Marriage Enrichment" weekend. We stayed at The Hyatt Place in Fort Wayne. The room was fabulous!! We had a huge flat screen TV and everything! The whole weekend was amazing and just what we needed. We were gone TWO nights! We spent time with old friends, ate yummy food, made some new friends, got to remember what it's like to just walk out the door with nothing but ourselves, enjoyed a wonderful speaker, among other things! :)

Our friend, Josh, demonstrating the "frog splash" (is that right?? that doesn't sound right...)
Jason with Ryan's stinky sock on his head after it got thrown across the room at him. This really was a wonderful weekend. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MOM & DAD because without you taking our kids we probably wouldn't have been able to go!!!

Remember "Nova"?

This is a rare photo of the endangered species of turtle "flatlegged superhugecrazymouthia"
...and what happens when this turtle comes in contact with it's natural predator, the male "orneryosaur". Sorry, PETA.

Growing Up

Catching up on her Facebook
Preparing to "pull up" at the coffee table. Yeah. She got up to her knees (my camera battery died before I could get a picture!). AND that same day, when I went to get her up from her nap, she was SITTING UP in her crib! All by herself! TWO milestones in one day! I can't handle it. She's supposed to stay a baby forever! If she gets a tooth I'm grounding her.

TOO MUCH!

I completely overindulged today. Right now I feel like I do on Thanksgiving night. What is wrong with me?!?! Maybe if I embarrass myself with typing out in public everything I ate today, I'll think twice about doing it again!!!

Ok...

Breakfast - sausage McMuffin with egg, hashbrown, medium coffee with 1 cream
Lunch - who knows how many pepperonis while I got lunch ready for the kids, then 7 triscuits with pizza sauce, pepperoni, and cheese on top
Snack - who knows how many pepperonis on triscuits
Supper - 12 pc chicken nuggets from Chic-Fil-A, dipped in honey mustard, and a side salad with ranch dressing
Snack #2 - TWO Kit-Kats. No...not 2 pieces of a Kit-Kat...TWO WHOLE Kit-Kat bars.
Snack #3 - Philadelphia cheesecake filling on top of crushed graham crackers with DeBrand raspberry sauce drizzled over it all.

I'm a pig. No wonder I'm overweight!!! AND I haven't done my work-out since THURSDAY! Who wants to take bets I put something else in my mouth before I go to bed since it's only 9:17 right now???? I'm disgusted with myself. HA! :)

Nine Truths, One Lie...The Answers!

Scroll down or click here if this post is confusing. :)

#1 - TRUE! Haha I tricked several of you! :) I actually WAS freezing and it was very out of character for me!

#2 - TRUE! And like you, Julie, I too am probably a tad jealous. But I am also annoyed! :)

#3 - TRUE! We are going on a Marriage Retreat with our church and we are beyond excited. I've NEVER done anything like this before and the only time I have been away from Mackinley for more than one night was when Piper was born! I'm not one bit worried about my kids, though, because they will be in VERY capable hands. (Korie...I'm not sure why you didn't know this! Sorry to leave you in the dark!)

#4 - TRUE! Mom! I can't believe you don't remember this! I will NEVER forget it. I still have a vivid memory of looking up at her to say something and all I can see is dirt and roots heading straight into my open eyes.

#5 - TRUE! We were hillbillies. :)

#6 - FALSE! No one guessed it! Well, not really...my Mom and Haley kind of guessed it but they were wishy-washy! :) I actually love watermelon and don't mind spitting the seeds at my husband. Who, consequently, was the only one to guess correctly but I didn't let him type his answer because that would be giving it away! hehe

#7 - 10 are obviously TRUE! now that I've revealed the false one.

This was fun! Thanks for humoring me and playing along. :)

Nine Truths, One Lie

I grabbed this idea from Erin, a pretend friend (I stole that phrase from her, too! ha) of mine. Below are 10 random things about me. Can you find the one that is NOT true??

1. I'm freezing right now. I'm bundled up in a blanket with my laptop on my lap and only my hands are poking out so I can type.

2. I have lost my love for "Jon & Kate Plus 8". It's not them that annoy me as much as all the "stuff" that came along with their show this last season. Commercials are for BETWEEN shows...don't try to sell me a V Smile because VTech paid you enormous amounts of dollars to do so. And really?? A 5-day layover in San Diego ON YOUR WAY TO HAWAII to renew your vows? Yeah. That's realistic for families.

3. I'm leaving Piper for the first time overnight this weekend. And it's not just ONE overnight...it's TWO!

4. When I was a child, my friend and I were playing in my yard. Completely out of the blue, she rips a fistful of clover and grass out of the ground, roots and all, and slams it into my open eyes. I remember screaming in pain and trying to run inside but I was absolutely blind because of all the dirt. I also remember screaming in pain as my parents held my eyes open and dumped glass after glass of water into my eyes until all the dirt was gone.

5. That friend's father's name was Red and we all lived in a trailer park in North Carolina.

6. I hate watermelon. It's grainy. And who has time for SEEDS?!?!

7. I love yoga. I do every pose on my Wii Fit 5 days a week.

8. I'm very excited borderlining impatient for my siblings to get married and have babies!!! Seriously I'm tired of being the only one with kids! COME ON, YOU TWO (Kyle...you have a pass for a few more years before I start hounding you, too)!!!!!!!!

9. I think it's funny that I assume Kelly & Kyle read my blog. I actually know that it's very likely they NEVER read my blog or even know I HAVE a blog!

10. I fell in love with Christian Bale when he was in "Newsies" and I still love him, anger management issues and all.

My Valentine Date

Jason had to work on Valentine's Day so Haley was my date! :) First we went to Grandpa's play at his church, College Wesleyan. We had yummy food catered by Fazoli's!

This is the best picture I got of Grandpa. He did a great job!! He wouldn't even come out of character when he saw Misti was here all the way from Florida as a surprise when he was leaving the room after the production! That was really funny.
I'm so glad Misti came and I got to see her! She and David were only here for like 24 hours (was it even THAT long??) before heading back home to Florida! (I hope you're feeling better, Mist.)

Bella Vita

After Grandpa's play, Haley and I went to Bella Vita to see Korie sing with her new band, Jester Kings. They did an awesome job! Again, I am so proud of my sister!!! I'm THRILLED I finally got to see her with Jester Kings, I wish it would have been sooner!
Really? A banana clip? Really??
Really? This is the only picture I got of us and I look like someone is pushing the back of my head into the carpet? Really?? At least Haley looks beautiful!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Kaeleigh & Mackinley enjoyed some special Valentine's Day donuts for breakfast! :) We hope you have a wonderful day full of love!

Kaeleigh's Castle

Kaeleigh got this tent for Christmas. We set it up for her this weekend and she calls it her "castle". She and Macky play in it for HOURS! They love it!

The Cops!

Amanda sent Mackinley this Police Helmet for his birthday. Both he and Kaeleigh are having a lot of fun with it.

On The Move!!

Piper is definitely on the move. She goes where ever she wants to and gets into everything!

My Friend Haley

Haley and I have been friends for about 5 years (wow! 5 years already??). We have a lot of differences but they seem to work for us! And the ones that don't work...we just steer the conversation away from those silly things. I feel like my friendship with Haley has really grown in the last year or so. So much that on Christmas morning my dad said "Where's Haley?!?!" Like it was the most crazy thing that she wasn't there opening presents with US instead of her own family. Both my parents have adopted Haley into our family so she is now an honorary Broyles.

Haley has been there for me through lots of stuff. She's watched my kids for me so I can go off and do fun things with my husband. We've cased some joints. We both LOVE food. I guess you could say we're best friends! (I don't say "best friends" very often...in fact, pretty much never. I can tell you as I'm sitting here I only remember calling 4 people other than Haley a "best" friend.)

ANYWAY....my friend Haley started a blog this week!!! Go and see it HERE and maybe let her know you stopped by. We all love her and I know you will, too!

Red Envelope Campaign

Get a red envelope and send it empty to President Obama in honor of Valentine's Day (who cares if it's not there by tomorrow!).

On the front, address it to:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington , DC 20500

On the back, write the following message:

"This envelope represents one child who died through abortion. Imagine this child's potential if he or she was allowed to continue to live."

It would be wonderful if President Obama were to receive 50 million red envelopes representing all of the innocent unborn children who have died through surgical abortion since 1973.

SICK of SICK!!!!

It all started with the munchkins. They both had bad colds that lasted about a week.

Then I got a cold. Ok, so I'll be sick for a week then be fine. Right? Wrong. My cold turned into a sinus infection, which gave me the wonderful gift of an ear infection.

Then Mackinley got pink eye...then Piper....now me.

So last night we are at Livewires. I'm sitting on the floor with Piper waiting for other kids and the nursery worker to arrive. I start to feel kind of odd...woozy and dizzy. I try to ignore it and focus on what I'm there to do. The other leaders keep talking to me....I can barely hear anything they're saying. (My ear is still clogged...it feels like when you go swimming and get water in your ear except banging on the side of my head with my palm doesn't make it come out!)

As the night progresses, I feel worse and worse. I keep feeling like I'm either going to pass out or throw up or both. And I had a headache in my eyes. I know that makes no sense but I have no other way to describe it...it was a headache in my eyes. Finally I decide it's just getting worse, not better, so I need to leave while I can still drive my babies home.

I called Jason on my way home and asked him if he had time to just stop by and help me get the kids to bed. He came home...but had to leave immediately because of course in all of this there's a HURRICANE going on in February in Indiana. I managed to get Piper to bed and then my head split open. I turned on "Curious George" for Mackinley while I layed perfectly still on the couch trying not to throw up. Jason was able to stop by again for just long enough to get Mackinley in his jammies and in his bed. He turned off all the lights for me and I just lay on the couch like a slug.

I dozed off for about 40 minutes and when I woke up my head was significantly better. By midnight I felt almost 100% myself again. Today I feel pretty good...just a small headache and of course my ear is still full but it's been that way for 2 weeks so a plugged ear has become my friend. haha :)

If you read all of this...WOW! Thanks for sticking to it! (I'm sure my Mom got through the first paragraph before she moved on to the next blog! HAHA!) I just needed to vent that I'm really TIRED of sickness and all I want is to feel NORMAL again!!! Please?!?!

"His Eye Is On The Sparrow"

Grandpa asked Korie at his party if she would sing "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" for him. She didn't know the old hymn at all so a few cousins grouped around her and she "crammed" to learn it in about ten minutes!! The family sang along with her (Heavilins break out in song at a party?? NOOOO) and it was really sweet!

Mackinley's Birthday Party

Last Saturday we had a little birthday party for Mackinley. Kamma & Papoo, Peepaw, Haley, & Uncle Kelly came to help us celebrate.

Girls Will Be Girls

In the midst of all the Ironman, Hulk, Transformers and Mario Kart Wii talk...the girls of course were playing with Barbies! Kaeleigh is a wonderful big sister and is AWESOME with Piper!
