Last week Pastor Joseph from Uganda shared an article with us about the drought in Uganda. The article states that HALF the people of Uganda are starving, and without rain, that number just increases. I kept thinking of the stark lopsidedness of Uganda and America, while they are starving and dying of thirst, we are having floods and copious amounts of rain, add to that our numbers of obesity and our obsession with excess.
Today we received word from Pastor Richard from Uganda that our little girl we sponsor, Bumpi, was out working with her mother and siblings when a thief came into their home and took all of their possessions. Clothing, bedding...everything. So today I keep thinking about the lopsidedness of Bumpi's situation and my situation. I have 1700 square feet of house full of possessions. She had nothing when I visited her two-room home in December and now she has even less.
I don't know what to do with this information and this knowledge of imbalance.

Are sponsors allowed to send EXTRA when things like this happen? Send me an e-mail and let me know - - - I'd be more than happy to send something to help them.
There just isn't any answer to the imbalance in the world. We just have to do what we are called to do and leave the rest in His hands.
I'll just share a quote with you, Keri. It's from St. Francis of Asisi.
“Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
Don't let yourself get overwhelmed or discouraged by it. Just keep doing what you are doing. You are sponsoring a little girl and affecting her life directly. You are volunteering with a mission and affecting hundreds more, and you are telling others what you see and feel which will affect thousands.
I can only echo what has already been said, Keri. Beyond that, the question you've asked is one to which I expect almost everyone in the history of the world has wanted to know the answer. Bless your heart for being one of the people who don't just want to know the answer, but who really cares about it too.
