UGH!!!!

A couple of years ago, I had a cavity in one of my molars. The dentist filled it, telling me that it was pretty close to the nerve so it would need to be watched. Yeah....ummm....anyway.... Sunday it started to hurt pretty bad. It started out as kind of a tingly feeling in my cheekbone area and by the end of the night I was miserable with severe pain in my jaw. I kept ice on it, called my Dad to find out what I could take with the most potency while pregnant for pain, and started popping Tylenol Extra Strength every 4 hours. I didn't get any sleep at all that night. As soon as the dentist was open Monday, I called and luckily they could see me right away. Remember the filling that was iffy?? Well, it's now an abscess....yuck. And because I'm pregnant, I could only take penicillin & the Tylenol. I'm sorry if you're a big believer in Tylenol but it is pretty much useless for this pain. Needless to say, the last meal I had was Sunday at lunch. I have been slowly sipping soup, milk, Carnation Instant Breakfast, etc. I'm scheduled for a root canal but they can't get me in until Tuesday!!! I really hope the penicillin starts doing it's job SOON because the dentist said that would relieve my pain. So please keep me in your prayers, I need to be able to sleep and eat very soon or I'm going to go insane. LOL! And how sad will I be if I still can't eat on Thanksgiving!!!!! Misti and Dad will get ALL the turkey skin!

You poor thing!!! I cant imagine having an abcess and only being able to take Tylenol. I know how bad you must be feeling. Been there done that! Hopefully you will be feeling better to eat lots of turkey and the fixins next week.

Hey sorry to hear about your pain I had to have a tooth pulled when I was 7 months pregnant w/Sara It sucked!! I do want to recommend taking liquid Vitmin C after being on an antibiotic (the antibioic kills your immune system)
I will be praying for you and the sweetie in your belly!!!

Tonight Dad asked me, all innocently, how your abscess was. I think he'd been on here, read the comments, and REALIZED he forgot to tell me.

Silly man!!!

I had the same thing happen to me and ended up in the emergency room for pain med (but I wasn't pregnant and could actually take them). I am so sorry b/c I know the pain. It is no fun. The antibiotic did work on me in a day or so. Actually the root canal was a relief and the swelling went down really quickly. Take care of yourself!

FINALLY today I seem to be almost normal. I'm even going to attempt to eat my first meal since Sunday. The antibiotic took 80 hours to kick in...not the 36-48 that they promised me. Oh well, at least it seems to be over now. I just hope I can eat by Thursday after my root canal Tuesday!!

I'm worrying about the baby. I've lost weight because of all of this and I don't like taking pills when I'm pregnant. =( I hope the baby is ok.

I think you can stop worrying about the baby. The baby WILL take the nourishment it needs from you - - - that is PART of why you've lost weight since you haven't been able to eat. I don't think either the Tylenol nor the penicillin will hurt the baby. I think he/she will be just fine.

I'm glad you're feeling better.
