We were outside today and Mackinley heard the Cicadas singing and asked "What's that sound?". So Jason took him to the tree and found a shell to show him. Mackinley was fascinated but not sure he wanted to touch it!
This was hilarious. Jason put it on Mackinley's shoulder and he stood there very still, not moving his head but you can see on his face that he liked it there.

We had our 17 year Cicadas when Katie was about a year old and I have a great picture of her trying to put one in her mouth :P
at least MJ is happy just to see one, not see how crunchy they are :)

I agree, I love his haircut. And his reaction to the cicadas is adorable.
My oldest Caterpillar LOVES bugs. Last summer I found one of my good tupperware containers full of those shells, under his bed.
Needless to say it no longer holds food...
I don't blame him - - - I don't like to touch those things either!!!!
That is one of the variety that comes up every year here in IN - - - not one of the 17 year kind. But they are ALL ugly!!!

The other day Eli took his toolbox and we went outside, and he pulled off as many cicadas as he could find off the trees. He had a huge collection!
Oh Heather - - - I think they are UGLIER than June Bugs.
