Anyone who knows me knows my passion for food and cooking. I love Food Network and I love to watch the shows and get inspiration! But I'm always saying things like "WHAT? What is THAT ingredient? Pretty sure I won't find it here in Small Town, USA" and "What kind of a store is THAT?!?! That is NOT WalMart!". Well, Haley told me she went to the Fresh Market and that I needed to check it out. So we went Friday. I walked in and my jaw dropped. THIS is the store I've always dreamed of! I told Haley I felt like I was shopping with Alton Brown. The store was amazing. So clean and everything was displayed in a way that it just made you want to put on your apron and run to the kitchen! (Put on your apron?? I don't even OWN an apron!) I was in food Heaven.
The Olive Bar! I had never seen an Olive Bar before! However, there was not a pretty lady standing there waiting to let me taste olives like there always is for Alton!
After Haley took my picture by the Olive Bar, a nice man asked if we would like him to take a picture of us together. We said "SURE!". Just as he was getting ready to snap a cute shot, Mrs. Fresh Market Picture Nazi (e.g. - F.M.P.N.) came storming up, informing us that pictures are NOT allowed inside the store (As if this is just common knowledge that all citizens not wearing a Fresh Market uniform and carrying a F.M.P.N. badge are aware of)! The nice man holding my camera was looking at her as she was preparing to chop our heads off and said "Oh, is that so?" while simultaneously snapping THIS picture! I must say this picture CRACKS ME UP!!! The looks on our faces! It's priceless. We were all three extremely confused and pretty taken aback by Mrs. F.M.P.N. and her nasty attitude. After I retrieved my camera from the nice man, Haley noticed that Mrs. F.M.P.N. was urgently discussing with her coworkers what should be our punishment. We walked away and I kept waiting for Mrs. F.M.P.N. to walk up and demand my camera! She never did, however. Does anyone know WHY such a silly rule exists? Am I going to steal an idea of how to set up an Olive Bar and open my own store?!?!

OH MY GOSH?!?!?! look at my FACE! what is wrong with it? it looks like i have little to no neck. i'm pretty sure at that moment i was saying to the guy "quick, just take the picture". however, he didn't wait for me to STOP saying that before he just snapped the picture. i wonder what word i'm saying here.
also, you aren't allowed to take pictures inside of debrands either. as if i have my own chocolatey dungeon in my house where i make delicious chocolatey treats and when people come over i want to display them but oh wait... i have no idea how to do it to make them look fabulous so i go to debrands and steal their secret chocolate display ideas? what? and why am i babbling on and on?
Where was this "Fresh Food Market" located?
Haley - You're silly. You CLEARLY have a neck in that picture! LOL
Mom - It's Fresh Market and it's in Fort Wayne, the best way for me to describe it to you would be between Jefferson Pointe and Lutheran...but that's a very BROAD description. haha :)
Cute pic of Keri at the olive bar and the one of you & Haley is priceless...it would not have entered my mind not to take picture. The expression on your faces speaks volumes!!!
Have you ever noticed in some shows and movies you see a can that looks like a pepsi can but the label says soda...or a name brand cereal that looks like Cheerios but is calls Circle O's..thats probably why you can't take pics because of the name brands and the store does not want you to advertise it (like who has time) :)
Its just plain silly.
Also another store you may like is Trader Joe's I have never been there but a friend of mine goes often and says it is awesome.
ahh hahaha! That's so weird they won't let you take pics! I love that store too:)
Many retail chains prohibit photos because of fear that competing retailers might copy some of their design or display techniques.
Alright, I have come to the conclusion that Haley is the reason why we cant take pictures in stores. :) First we stole the DeBrand;s display case ideas and now you guys are stealing the Fresh Market ideas. :) Both time Haley was present. :)
We have a Fresh Market here in Tallahassee. Best meats around plus wonderful bakery selections. Of course, not good for us dieters!! Stick to the fantastic produce section.....
We did a "Polaroid Scavenger Hunt" and one of the shots was to get a pic inside the Taco Bell. They also have a picture nazi there that was not the friendliest of sorts...it was just our goal to sneak a picture anyway!! btw...how do you get the cute backgrounds on your blog. We need to jazz ours up a bit!
This is so hilarious!! My jaw is dropping in pure laughter!! and them looks are priceless!!!
I'm SOOO happy you got to experience that market!! are you sure no markets are hiding in your town? hehe FOOD FTW!!!
Hollands -
If you click on the link in the upper left hand corner of my screen, that says "The Cutest Blog On The Block", that's where I get my backgrounds. They have very easy to follow instructions with how to apply them! And they have SUPER cute backgrounds! :)
Heather -
I am absolutely positive there is no store like Fresh Market in this town. LOL
hey keri! we have fresh market here in florida, and i love it too. i can always find my husband at the olive bar. :)
Indeed.......you both have the look of "oh this is creepy, we just agreed to have our pic taken by this guy".....a picture is worth...
I would think they would LOVE the free advertising your photos would bring.
Pink Coffee - Does your husband get to taste the olives?!?! I really wanted to but was afraid I might get arrested!!
i think he just drools on them-ew! after your experience, i'm going to have to put him on one of those kiddie leash things next time!!
