Vintage Thingies Thursday - Grandma's Piano

I'm participating in another of Coloradolady's Vintage Thingies Thursday's.

This time my Vintage Thingie is my grandparent's piano. Grandma passed away last summer, so the piano has extra value to me. She gave me lessons when I was in middle school on this piano. The lessons didn't last very long...probably had something to do with my impatience for practicing!! "You mean I can't play a Mozart Symphony on my first day?! No thanks!" I never was the most patient child...or adult for that matter! HA! :)

Since acquiring the piano, I have started a book to learn how to play. It's funny because I thought I had long since forgotten the lessons Grandma taught me, but when I sit down and perch my fingers over the keys, I can hear her voice in my ear as if she's still standing behind me, giving loving instructions. I'm so blessed to have her piano in my home, and I'm so blessed to have had her for a Grandma!!

The recesses of your mind are an incredible thing. Take the head, add the heart and voila!

Merry Christmas!

There is nothing more loving than a grandmother..nor is there anything softer than a grandmothers lap. When I was small, either mama or my grandmother was always there to pick me up and guide me. And though they're both gone..I too can feel their whispers telling me the path to choose..and the way to be. I'm so happy for you that you have her piano and I hope you learn to play..
Happy VTT..have a most wonderful weekend.

I just love your grandma's old piano! What sweet memories you have about her. Are your kids taking lessons?

I almost posted my old piano today but I didn't have time to take some pictures of it. Maybe next week?

Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful family heirloom, and I bet your Grandma is smiling down on you! She must be very happy that you have her old piano and want to learn to play it. Grandmas are such special people, aren't they? I still miss my Grandma every day, and I lost her in '91. And I'm so happy to have alot of the things that she touched surrounding me!
Merry Christmas and Happy VTT!
