I am posting the videos of a series our pastor is doing this summer called "Jesus Plus Nothing". This series is fantastic. It has helped ease a lot of guilt I tend to have when I feel like "I'm not doing enough! I'm failing God. He must be so disappointed in me."
The best illustration I think Pastor Gary has given so far...the one that really hit home for me and caused tears to stream down my face...is this: He said "What does my grandson, Reed, have to do for me to love him? Nothing. What if I told Reed 'Reed! Go outside and pick up all the dog doo-doo in the backyard. Make sure you get all of it!' Then Reed is finished and I go outside and I see missed piles of doo-doo so I say to Reed 'You lazy, worthless child! Look at all that you left behind! Can't you do anything right?!' That sounds absurd, right? That is how absurd it is when we think God stops loving us because of our sin or because we're 'not good enough'."
