Big Boy Bed

Mackinley has graduated from his crib to a big boy bed! The transition has gone so much better than we anticipated. The first night in it, he went right to sleep and we never heard a peep from him all night! It's been that way every night and naptime since! We're so proud of our little man, but it's kind of sad to see him growing up so fast! He actually runs to his room by himself at bedtime now because he loves his new bed so much! And yes, he has to have ALL his friends in bed with him. LOLSaturday, March 15, 2008
Date Night
Mackinley went to Mom & Dad's for the night! Dad wanted to take him fishing so I was making sure his life jacket fit. What I would like to know is, how a 2 year old who has never in his little life been on a boat, said to me when I put his life jacket on him "Boat?" You can go here to see his adventures with Kamma & Papoo.
Jason and I got to have a date!!! We haven't had a night out without our little guy since September! We went to dinner at Biaggi's (it was HEAVEN) and then we got to see "Chicago" the musical at The Embassy in Fort Wayne. It was amazing!!! Even better than I imagined! "Chicago" is my favorite movie and it was so exciting to be able to see the musical in it's original Broadway form. I wish we had tickets for tonight's show too! haha!! After the show we went to Applebee's (because DeBrand's was closed! BOO!) and had dessert before heading home.Monday, March 10, 2008
Apology
I had to turn on the word verification for leaving comments. Someone kept leaving spam comments that had links in them to sites infected with viruses. I know it's kind of pain and an extra step when you leave a comment, but I think it's better than my friends and family getting tricked into clicking on bad links.
I hope you'll still leave me comments!! =)

For Kamma & Papoo
I took this video trying to get the reaction he usually gives me which is "YEAH!!!!!!!!" not the toned down version you see here. After trying several times, I gave up. He won't do it in front of the camera. But..it's still cute!
Mackinley is obsessed with watching himself on video! He watched it over and over and over. As I'm typing this, he's trying to wriggle himself beside me so he can watch it yet again!!

West Palm Beach, FL shooting
I'm having a terrible time after hearing about a shooting that happened today. You can read the full story here. I'll paraphrase the gist of it. Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue Lt. Rafael Vazquez was in training today for his job. For his lunch break, he met his wife and small son at Wendy's for lunch. They got their food and headed for the car, realizing the son's toy was not in his meal. So Lt. Rafael went back in to get a toy for his son. While standing at the counter, he was shot in the back and killed by a shooter dressed in a suit and tie with a ballcap on, who then opened fire on the restaurant, wounding 3 others and finally shooting and killing himself.
My biggest fear is losing Jason. Because of his line of work, it's a real issue that we talk about and I'm not naive enough to think that it could never happen to us. This news story is way too close to home for me. It sounds like EXACTLY something we would be doing on any given day. I can't imagine the pain this wife and mother is feeling and the complete loss. How do you answer your toddler when he asks "Where's Daddy?" How do you go to bed at night knowing he's never coming home?
I've been sobbing since reading the news story. I know God has a master plan and we don't know what it is but I can't see why in the world a father and husband had to be snatched away today while getting a toy for his son in a Wendy's. And why does the shooter get to die? Why doesn't he have to be punished for his HORRIBLE and meaningless crime?? Yes, I know, if he's in Hell that's punishment but I just don't get it.

Saturday
I can't believe I'm posting this picture for the world to see. This is what we did Saturday. This is what is going to be the girls' bedroom. It became a bit of a catch-all because we didn't have Kaeleigh for about a month. I refused to make her sleep in this pig sty so I decided Saturday I would clean it out. I am so blessed with the world's greatest husband. He pitched in and helped me, I didn't have to ask, and he never complained once. How did I get so lucky?!?! It took us a LONG time...a good chunk of the day, but the room is ready to be painted and furnished for our two little girls. I'm really getting excited now!!!
Kaeleigh and Mackinley were so good while we were cleaning. They played and watched movies and kept themselves busy. We got to have Kaeleigh for THREE days this weekend!!! WOOHOO! It's been a lot of fun!! I'm not looking forward to tomorrow morning when Kaeleigh goes home and MJ loses his playmate! =( It's sad when she leaves, he usually cries.Sunday
These two spent probably 80% of their weekend in Kaeleigh's room, after we finished cleaning it out. I think they really like having their own space without the parental units breathing down their necks. It's crazy how they've gone from babies to kids almost overnight. Jason and I were saying how it makes us happy and yet a little sad that they don't need us for entertainment any more. They're growing up so fast!!!Go Ni-Ni!!

Kaeleigh loves bossing MJ around. Not in a bad way, it's like a mothering sort of bossiness (it's really cute and funny to listen to when they don't know we're listening). In these pictures, she was telling MJ it was time for ni-ni and he better go to sleep and NOT get up!! Maybe I should let her do the task of training him to sleep in his big boy bed?? =)Monday
...heard the story of The Three Little Pigs as told by Daddy, and right now as I type this they are back in Kaeleigh's room giggling and laughing, not sure exactly what they're doing but as we all know, if I can hear them, they're more than likely doing something that's allowed. LOL!!
And Momma has the super fun task of laundry today! How sexy am I in my comfy clothes and bed head and glasses?!?!? ROFL
